22. Dieu est grand par sa puissance ; qui saurait enseigner comme lui ?
24. Souviens-toi d'exalter ses œuvres, que célèbrent tous les hommes.
25. Tout homme les contemple, chacun les voit de loin.
5. Dieu tonne avec sa voix d'une manière merveilleuse ; il fait de grandes choses que nous ne comprenons pas.
3. Ceins tes reins comme un vaillant homme ; je t'interrogerai, et tu m'instruiras.
4. Où étais-tu quand je fondais la terre ? Dis-le, si tu as de l'intelligence.
5. Qui en a fixé les dimensions, le sais-tu ? Ou qui a étendu sur elle le cordeau ?
7. Alors que les étoiles du matin éclataient en chants d'allégresse, et que tous les fils de Dieu poussaient des cris de joie ?
22. Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
24. Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
25. Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

6 Les cieux ont été faits par la parole de l'Éternel, et toute leur armée par le souffle de sa bouche.
9 Car il dit, et la chose arrive ; il ordonne, et elle existe.
6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
1 … l'Éternel dit à Josué, fils de Nun, serviteur de Moïse :
2 … lève-toi, passe ce Jourdain, toi et tout ce peuple, pour entrer dans le pays que je donne aux enfants d'Israël.
3 Tout lieu que foulera la plante de votre pied, je vous le donne, comme je l'ai dit à Moïse.
5 Nul ne tiendra devant toi, tant que tu vivras. Je serai avec toi, comme j'ai été avec Moïse ; je ne te délaisserai point, je ne t'abandonnerai point.
9 Fortifie-toi et prends courage…Ne t'effraie point et ne t'épouvante point, car l'Éternel, ton Dieu, est avec toi dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.

2 …arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
9 Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
1 Adoni Tsédek, roi de Jérusalem, apprit que Josué s'était emparé d'Aï et l'avait dévouée par interdit, qu'il avait traité Aï et son roi comme il avait traité Jéricho et son roi, et que les habitants de Gabaon avaient fait la paix avec Israël et étaient au milieu d'eux.
3 Adoni Tsédek, roi de Jérusalem, fit dire à Hoham, roi d'Hébron, à Piream, roi de Jarmuth, à Japhia, roi de Lakis, et à Debir, roi d'Églon :
4 Montez vers moi, et aidez-moi, afin que nous frappions Gabaon, car elle a fait la paix avec Josué et avec les enfants d'Israël.
5 Cinq rois des Amoréens, … se réunirent ainsi et montèrent avec toutes leurs armées ; ils vinrent camper près de Gabaon, et l'attaquèrent.
6 Les gens de Gabaon envoyèrent dire à Josué, au camp de Guilgal : N'abandonne pas tes serviteurs, monte vers nous en hâte, délivre-nous, donne-nous du secours ; car tous les rois des Amoréens, qui habitent la montagne, se sont réunis contre nous.
8 L'Éternel dit à Josué : Ne les crains point, car je les livre entre tes mains, et aucun d'eux ne tiendra devant toi.
9 Josué arriva subitement sur eux, après avoir marché toute la nuit depuis Guilgal.
10 L'Éternel les mit en déroute devant Israël ;
12 Alors Josué parla à l'Éternel, le jour où l'Éternel livra les Amoréens aux enfants d'Israël, et il dit en présence d'Israël : Soleil, arrête-toi sur Gabaon, et toi, lune, sur la vallée d'Ajalon !
13 Et le soleil s'arrêta, et la lune suspendit sa course, jusqu'à ce que la nation eût tiré vengeance de ses ennemis. … Le soleil s'arrêta au milieu du ciel, et ne se hâta point de se coucher, presque tout un jour.
14 Il n'y a point eu de jour comme celui-là, ni avant ni après, où l'Éternel ait écouté la voix d'un homme ; car l'Éternel combattait pour Israël.
1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
3 Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, … gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.
10 And the Lord discomfited them before Israel,
12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. … So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.
14 Considère encore les merveilles de Dieu !
23 Nous ne saurions parvenir jusqu'au Tout Puissant, grand par la force, par la justice, par le droit souverain : il ne répond pas !
14 …stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
5 Du temps d'Hérode, roi de Judée, il y avait un sacrificateur, nommé Zacharie, de la classe d'Abia ; sa femme était d'entre les filles d'Aaron, et s'appelait Élisabeth.
6 Tous deux étaient justes devant Dieu, observant d'une manière irréprochable tous les commandements et toutes les ordonnances du Seigneur.
7 Ils n'avaient point d'enfants, parce qu'Élisabeth était stérile ; et ils étaient l'un et l'autre avancés en âge.
8 Or, pendant qu'il s'acquittait de ses fonctions devant Dieu, selon le tour de sa classe, il fut appelé par le sort,
9 D'après la règle du sacerdoce, à entrer dans le temple du Seigneur pour offrir le parfum.
11 Alors un ange du Seigneur apparut à Zacharie, et se tint debout à droite de l'autel des parfums.
12 Zacharie fut troublé en le voyant, et la frayeur s'empara de lui.
13 Mais l'ange lui dit : Ne crains point, Zacharie ; car ta prière a été exaucée. Ta femme Élisabeth t'enfantera un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jean.
14 Il sera pour toi un sujet de joie et d'allégresse, et plusieurs se réjouiront de sa naissance.
15 Car il sera grand devant le Seigneur.
19 Je suis Gabriel, je me tiens devant Dieu ; j'ai été envoyé pour te parler, et pour t'annoncer cette bonne nouvelle.
24 Quelque temps après, Élisabeth, sa femme, devint enceinte. Elle se cacha pendant cinq mois, disant :
25 C'est la grâce que le Seigneur m'a faite, quand il a jeté les yeux sur moi pour ôter mon opprobre parmi les hommes.
26 Au sixième mois, l'ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth,
27 Auprès d'une vierge fiancée à un homme de la maison de David, nommé Joseph. Le nom de la vierge était Marie.
28 L'ange entra chez elle, et dit : Je te salue, toi à qui une grâce a été faite ; le Seigneur est avec toi.
31 Et voici, tu deviendras enceinte, et tu enfanteras un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus.
36 Voici, Élisabeth, ta parente, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils en sa vieillesse, et celle qui était appelée stérile est dans son sixième mois.
37 Car rien n'est impossible à Dieu.
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.
8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,
9 According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord,
19 I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
11 Justes, réjouissez-vous en l'Éternel et soyez dans l'allégresse ! Poussez des cris de joie, vous tous qui êtes droits de cœur !
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
13 Car voici celui qui a formé les montagnes et créé le vent, et qui fait connaître à l'homme ses pensées, celui qui change l'aurore en ténèbres, et qui marche sur les hauteurs de la terre : son nom est l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées.
13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his name.
L’Écriture nous apprend que « tout est possible à Dieu » — que tout bien est possible à l’Esprit.
Scripture informs us that "with God all things are possible," — all good is possible to Spirit;
La Science révèle la possibilité d’accomplir tout bien et incite les mortels à travailler pour découvrir ce que Dieu a déjà fait.
Science reveals the possibility of achieving all good, and sets mortals at work to discover what God has already done;
La Science Chrétienne explique toute cause et tout effet comme étant mentaux, non physiques. Elle lève le voile de mystère qui couvre l’Ame et le corps. Elle montre la relation scientifique de l’homme à Dieu, démêle les ambiguïtés enchevêtrées de l’être et libère la pensée emprisonnée. En Science divine, l’univers, y compris l’homme, est spirituel, harmonieux et éternel.
Christian Science explains all cause and effect as mental, not physical. It lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body. It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought. In divine Science, the universe, including man, is spiritual, harmonious, and eternal.
Le Principe créateur — Vie, Vérité et Amour — c’est Dieu. L’univers reflète Dieu. Il n’y a qu’un créateur et qu’une création. Cette création consiste dans le déroulement d’idées spirituelles avec leurs identités qui sont incluses dans l’Entendement infini et à jamais réfléchies.
The creative Principle — Life, Truth, and Love — is God. The universe reflects God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected.
Dans l’univers de la Vérité, la matière est inconnue. Aucune supposition d’erreur n’y pénètre. La Science divine, la Parole de Dieu, dit aux ténèbres à la surface de l’erreur :
« Dieu est Tout-en-tout », et la lumière de l’Amour toujours présent illumine l’univers.
D’où la merveille éternelle, que l’espace infini est peuplé des idées de Dieu qui Le reflètent en d’innombrables formes spirituelles.
In the universe of Truth, matter is unknown. No supposition of error enters there. Divine Science, the Word of God, saith to the darkness upon the face of error, "God is All-in-all," and the light of ever-present Love illumines the universe. Hence the eternal wonder, — that infinite space is peopled with God's ideas, reflecting Him in countless spiritual forms.
L’Entendement, souverain sur toutes ses formations et les gouvernant toutes, est le soleil central de ses propres systèmes d’idées, la vie et la lumière de toute sa vaste création ; et l’homme est tributaire de l’Entendement divin.
Le monde s’écroulerait sans l’Entendement, sans l’intelligence qui rassemble les vents dans ses mains. Ni la philosophie ni le scepticisme ne peuvent entraver la marche de la Science qui révèle la suprématie de l’Entendement. Le sens immanent de l’Entendement-force met en valeur la gloire de l’Entendement. La proximité, non l’éloignement, confère de l’enchantement à cette perspective.
Les minéraux composés ou l’agrégat de substances formant la terre, les rapports qui existent entre les masses constituantes, les magnitudes, les distances et les révolutions des corps célestes, ne sont d’aucune importance réelle, quand on se rappelle qu’ils doivent tous disparaître devant le fait spirituel par le replacement de l’homme et de l’univers dans l’Esprit. Dans la mesure où cela s’effectuera, on verra que l’homme et l’univers sont harmonieux et éternels.
Les substances matérielles ou formations terrestres, les calculs astronomiques et tout le cortège des théories spéculatives, fondés sur l’hypothèse d’une loi matérielle ou de la vie et de l’intelligence résidant dans la matière, disparaîtront finalement, engloutis dans le calcul infini de l’Esprit.
Mind, supreme over all its formations and governing them all, is the central sun of its own systems of ideas, the life and light of all its own vast creation; and man is tributary to divine Mind.
The world would collapse without Mind, without the intelligence which holds the winds in its grasp. Neither philosophy nor skepticism can hinder the march of the Science which reveals the supremacy of Mind. The immanent sense of Mind-power enhances the glory of Mind. Nearness, not distance, lends enchantment to this view.
The compounded minerals or aggregated substances composing the earth, the relations which constituent masses hold to each other, the magnitudes, distances, and revolutions of the celestial bodies, are of no real importance, when we remember that they all must give place to the spiritual fact by the translation of man and the universe back into Spirit. In proportion as this is done, man and the universe will be found harmonious and eternal.
Material substances or mundane formations, astronomical calculations, and all the paraphernalia of speculative theories, based on the hypothesis of material law or life and intelligence resident in matter, will ultimately vanish, swallowed up in the infinite calculus of Spirit.
Le mouvement et la position de la terre sont maintenus par l’Entendement seul.
The earth's motion and position are sustained by Mind alone.
Il n’y a qu’une attraction réelle, celle de l’Esprit. L’aiguille aimantée se tournant vers le pôle symbolise ce pouvoir qui embrasse tout, cette attraction de Dieu, l’Entendement divin.
Les planètes n’ont pas plus de pouvoir sur l’homme que sur son Créateur, puisque Dieu gouverne l’univers ; mais l’homme, reflétant le pouvoir de Dieu, a la domination sur toute la terre et tout ce qu’elle comprend.
There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit. The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind.
The planets have no more power over man than over his Maker, since God governs the universe; but man, reflecting God's power, has dominion over all the earth and its hosts.
… la plante croît, non grâce à la semence ou au sol, mais parce que croître est le commandement éternel de l’Entendement. La pensée mortelle tombe dans la terre, mais la pensée créatrice immortelle vient d’en haut, non d’en bas. Puisque l’Entendement fait tout, il ne reste rien à faire par une puissance inférieure. L’Esprit agit par la Science de l’Entendement, n’obligeant jamais l’homme à cultiver le sol, mais lui donnant la supériorité sur la terre. La connaissance de ce fait élève l’homme au-dessus du sol, au-dessus de la terre et des choses terrestres, jusqu’à la consciente harmonie spirituelle et jusqu’à l’être éternel.
…the plant grows, not because of seed or soil, but because growth is the eternal mandate of Mind. Mortal thought drops into the ground, but the immortal creating thought is from above, not from beneath. Because Mind makes all, there is nothing left to be made by a lower power. Spirit acts through the Science of Mind, never causing man to till the ground, but making him superior to the soil. Knowledge of this lifts man above the sod, above earth and its environments, to conscious spiritual harmony and eternal being.
Si nous prions Dieu en tant que personne corporelle, cela nous empêchera de nous défaire des craintes et des doutes humains qui accompagnent une telle croyance, et nous ne pourrons par conséquent saisir les merveilles accomplies par l’Amour infini, incorporel, à qui toutes choses sont possibles.
If we pray to God as a corporeal person, this will prevent us from relinquishing the human doubts and fears which attend such a belief, and so we cannot grasp the wonders wrought by infinite, incorporeal Love, to whom all things are possible.
Le miracle n’introduit pas le désordre, mais déroule l’ordre primitif, établissant la Science de la loi immuable de Dieu. Seule l’évolution spirituelle est digne de l’opération du pouvoir divin.
The miracle introduces no disorder, but unfolds the primal order, establishing the Science of God's unchangeable law. Spiritual evolution alone is worthy of the exercise of divine power.
En Égypte, ce fut l’Entendement qui sauva les Israélites de la croyance aux plaies. Dans le désert, les eaux jaillirent du rocher, la manne tomba du ciel. Les Israélites regardèrent le serpent d’airain et crurent aussitôt qu’ils étaient guéris des morsures venimeuses des vipères. Au sein de la prospérité nationale, des miracles accompagnaient les succès des Hébreux ; mais lorsqu’ils s’écartèrent de l’idée vraie, leur démoralisation commença. Même au temps de la captivité parmi les nations étrangères, le Principe divin opéra des prodiges pour le peuple de Dieu dans la fournaise ardente et dans les palais des rois.
In Egypt, it was Mind which saved the Israelites from belief in the plagues. In the wilderness, streams flowed from the rock, and manna fell from the sky. The Israelites looked upon the brazen serpent, and straightway believed that they were healed of the poisonous stings of vipers.
In national prosperity, miracles attended the successes of the Hebrews; but when they departed from the true idea, their demoralization began. Even in captivity among foreign nations, the divine Principle wrought wonders for the people of God in the fiery furnace and in kings' palaces.
Les prétendus gaz et forces matériels sont des contrefaçons des forces spirituelles de l’Entendement divin, dont la puissance est la Vérité, dont l’attraction est l’Amour, dont l’adhésion et la cohésion sont la Vie, perpétuant les faits éternels de l’être. L’électricité est l’excédent aigu de la matérialité qui contrefait la véritable essence de la spiritualité ou vérité — la grande différence entre l’électricité et la vérité étant que l’électricité n’est pas intelligente, tandis que la vérité spirituelle est Entendement.
Il n’y a pas de vaine fureur de l’entendement mortel, exprimée sous forme de tremblements de terre, de vent, de vagues, de foudre, de feu et de férocité bestiale, et ce prétendu entendement se détruit lui-même. Les manifestations du mal, contrefaisant la justice divine, sont appelées dans les Écritures : « La colère... de l’Éternel ». En réalité, elles montrent l’autodestruction de l’erreur ou matière et elles indiquent l’opposé de la matière, la force et la permanence de l’Esprit. La Science Chrétienne met en lumière la Vérité et sa suprématie, l’harmonie universelle, l’intégralité de Dieu, le bien, et le néant du mal.
The material so-called gases and forces are counterfeits of the spiritual forces of divine Mind, whose potency is Truth, whose attraction is Love, whose adhesion and cohesion are Life, perpetuating the eternal facts of being. Electricity is the sharp surplus of materiality which counterfeits the true essence of spirituality or truth, — the great difference being that electricity is not intelligent, while spiritual truth is Mind.
There is no vapid fury of mortal mind — expressed in earthquake, wind, wave, lightning, fire, bestial ferocity — and this so-called mind is self-destroyed. The manifestations of evil, which counterfeit divine justice, are called in the Scriptures, "The anger of the Lord." In reality, they show the self-destruction of error or matter and point to matter's opposite, the strength and permanency of Spirit. Christian Science brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal harmony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.
Nous apprendrons un jour comment l’Esprit, le grand architecte, a créé les hommes et les femmes dans la Science.
La Science Chrétienne présente le déroulement, non l’accroissement ; elle manifeste, non une croissance matérielle partant de la molécule pour aboutir à l’entendement, mais une communication de l’Entendement divin à l’homme et à l’univers.
Sometime we shall learn how Spirit, the great architect, has created men and women in Science.
Christian Science presents unfoldment, not accretion; it manifests no material growth from molecule to mind, but an impartation of the divine Mind to man and the universe.
Tout ce qui est fait est l’œuvre de Dieu, et tout est bon.
L’harmonie et l’immortalité de l’homme sont intactes. Nous devrions nous détourner de la supposition contraire que l’homme est créé matériellement, et porter nos regards vers le récit spirituel de la création, vers ce qui devrait être gravé dans la compréhension et le cœur « avec la pointe d’un diamant » et la plume d’un ange.
All that is made is the work of God, and all is good.
The harmony and immortality of man are intact. We should look away from the opposite supposition that man is created materially, and turn our gaze to the spiritual record of creation, to that which should be engraved on the understanding and heart "with the point of a diamond" and the pen of an angel.

Il sera du devoir de chaque membre de cette Église de se défendre journellement contre la suggestion mentale agressive, et de ne pas se laisser entraîner à oublier ou à négliger son devoir envers Dieu, envers son Leader et envers l’humanité. Par ses œuvres, il sera jugé — et justifié ou condamné.
