22. Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps de quoi vous serez vêtus.
23. La vie est plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement.
24. Considérez les corbeaux : ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent, ils n'ont ni cellier ni grenier ; et Dieu les nourrit. Combien ne valez-vous pas plus que les oiseaux !
27. Considérez comment croissent les lis : ils ne travaillent ni ne filent ; cependant je vous dis que Salomon même, dans toute sa gloire, n'a pas été vêtu comme l'un d'eux.
28. Si Dieu revêt ainsi l'herbe qui est aujourd'hui dans les champs et qui demain sera jetée au four, à combien plus forte raison ne vous vêtira-t-il pas, gens de peu de foi ?
29. Et vous, ne cherchez pas ce que vous mangerez et ce que vous boirez, et ne soyez pas inquiets.
30. Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens du monde qui les recherchent. Votre Père sait que vous en avez besoin.
31. Cherchez plutôt le royaume de Dieu ; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par- dessus.
34. Ne crains point, petit troupeau ; car votre Père a trouvé bon de vous donner le royaume.
22. Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
27. Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to-day in the field, and to-morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29. And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

20 Ayez bon courage, et prenez des fruits du pays.
20 … be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land.
11 Il fait toute chose bonne en son temps ;
14 J'ai reconnu que tout ce que Dieu fait durera toujours, qu'il n'y a rien à y ajouter et rien à en retrancher, et que Dieu agit ainsi afin qu'on le craigne.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time:
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
28 Nous savons, du reste, que toutes choses concourent au bien de ceux qui aiment Dieu, de ceux qui sont appelés selon son dessein.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
16 … je te prescris aujourd'hui d'aimer l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de marcher dans ses voies, et d'observer ses commandements, ses lois et ses ordonnances, afin que tu vives et que tu multiplies, et que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te bénisse dans le pays dont tu vas entrer en possession.
16 I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

2 Aujourd'hui, leur dit-il, je suis âgé de cent vingt ans, je ne pourrai plus sortir et entrer, et l'Éternel m'a dit : Tu ne passeras pas ce Jourdain.
3 L'Éternel, ton Dieu, marchera lui-même devant toi.
7 Moïse appela Josué, et lui dit en présence de tout Israël : Fortifie-toi et prends courage, car tu entreras avec ce peuple dans le pays que l'Éternel a juré à leurs pères de leur donner, et c'est toi qui les en mettras en possession.
8 L'Éternel marchera lui-même devant toi, il sera lui-même avec toi, il ne te délaissera point, il ne t'abandonnera point ; ne crains point, et ne t'effraie point.
22 En ce jour-là, Moïse écrivit ce cantique, et il l'enseigna aux enfants d'Israël.
23 L'Éternel donna ses ordres à Josué, fils de Nun. Il dit : Fortifie-toi et prends courage, car c'est toi qui feras entrer les enfants d'Israël dans le pays que j'ai juré de leur donner ; et je serai moi-même avec toi.

2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
3 The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee,
7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.
8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.
23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.
1 Après la mort de Moïse, serviteur de l'Éternel, l'Éternel dit à Josué, fils de Nun, serviteur de Moïse :
2 Moïse, mon serviteur, est mort ; maintenant, lève-toi, passe ce Jourdain, toi et tout ce peuple, pour entrer dans le pays que je donne aux enfants d'Israël.
3 Tout lieu que foulera la plante de votre pied, je vous le donne, comme je l'ai dit à Moïse.
4 Vous aurez pour territoire depuis le désert et le Liban jusqu'au grand fleuve, le fleuve de l'Euphrate, tout le pays des Héthiens, et jusqu'à la grande mer vers le soleil couchant.
5 Nul ne tiendra devant toi, tant que tu vivras. Je serai avec toi, comme j'ai été avec Moïse ; je ne te délaisserai point, je ne t'abandonnerai point.
6 Fortifie-toi et prends courage, car c'est toi qui mettras ce peuple en possession du pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner.
7 Fortifie-toi seulement et aie bon courage, en agissant fidèlement selon toute la loi que Moïse, mon serviteur, t'a prescrite ; ne t'en détourne ni à droite ni à gauche, afin de réussir dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.
8 Que ce livre de la loi ne s'éloigne point de ta bouche ; médite-le jour et nuit, pour agir fidèlement selon tout ce qui y est écrit ; car c'est alors que tu auras du succès dans tes entreprises, c'est alors que tu réussiras.
9 Ne t'ai-je pas donné cet ordre : Fortifie-toi et prends courage ? Ne t'effraie point et ne t'épouvante point, car l'Éternel, ton Dieu, est avec toi dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.
1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
28 Ne le sais-tu pas ? ne l'as-tu pas appris ? C'est le Dieu d'éternité, l'Éternel, qui a créé les extrémités de la terre ; il ne se fatigue point, il ne se lasse point ; on ne peut sonder son intelligence.
29 Il donne de la force à celui qui est fatigué, et il augmente la vigueur de celui qui tombe en défaillance.
30 Les adolescents se fatiguent et se lassent, et les jeunes hommes chancellent ;
31 Mais ceux qui se confient en l'Éternel renouvellent leur force. Ils prennent le vol comme les aigles ; ils courent, et ne se lassent point, ils marchent, et ne se fatiguent point.
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
6 Ils s'aident l'un l'autre, et chacun dit à son frère : Courage !
13 Car je suis l'Éternel, ton Dieu, qui fortifie ta droite, qui te dis : Ne crains rien, je viens à ton secours.
6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
12 … travaillez à votre salut avec crainte et tremblement.
13 Car c'est Dieu qui produit en vous le vouloir et le faire, selon son bon plaisir.
14 Faites toutes choses sans murmures ni hésitations,
15 Afin que vous soyez irréprochables et purs, des enfants de Dieu irrépréhensibles au milieu d'une génération perverse et corrompue, parmi laquelle vous brillez comme des flambeaux dans le monde,
16 Portant la parole de vie ; et je pourrai me glorifier, au jour de Christ, de n'avoir pas couru en vain ni travaillé en vain.
12 …work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
10 Car nous sommes son ouvrage, ayant été créés en Jésus Christ pour de bonnes oeuvres, que Dieu a préparées d'avance, afin que nous les pratiquions.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
24 Que ce que vous avez entendu dès le commencement demeure en vous. Si ce que vous avez entendu dès le commencement demeure en vous, vous demeurerez aussi dans le Fils et dans le Père.
25 Et la promesse qu'il nous a faite, c'est la vie éternelle.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
Dieu est la Vie, ou intelligence, qui forme et conserve l’individualité et l’identité des animaux aussi bien que celles des hommes.
God is the Life, or intelligence, which forms and preserves the individuality and identity of animals as well as of men.
La compréhension que la Vie est Dieu, Esprit, prolonge nos jours en fortifiant notre confiance dans l’impérissable réalité de la Vie, dans sa toute-puissance et son immortalité.
Cette foi repose sur un Principe compris. Ce Principe guérit les malades et met en lumière les aspects permanents et harmonieux des choses.
The understanding that Life is God, Spirit, lengthens our days by strengthening our trust in the deathless reality of Life, its almightiness and immortality.
This faith relies upon an understood Principle. This Principle makes whole the diseased, and brings out the enduring and harmonious phases of things.
Dieu exprime en l’homme l’idée infinie qui se développe à jamais, et qui, partant d’une base illimitée, s’élargit et s’élève de plus en plus. … Nous ne savons rien de plus de l’homme en tant qu’image et ressemblance véritables et divines que nous ne savons de Dieu.
Les capacités humaines s’étendent et se perfectionnent dans la mesure où l’humanité gagne la vraie conception de l’homme et de Dieu.
Les mortels ont un sens bien imparfait de l’homme spirituel et de la portée infinie de sa pensée. L’homme spirituel possède la Vie éternelle.
God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis. … We know no more of man as the true divine image and likeness, than we know of God.
The human capacities are enlarged and perfected in proportion as humanity gains the true conception of man and God.
Mortals have a very imperfect sense of the spiritual man and of the infinite range of his thought. To him belongs eternal Life.
Ce sens scientifique de l’être, qui abandonne la matière pour l’Esprit, ne suggère aucunement l’absorption de l’homme en la Divinité ni la perte de son identité, mais confère à l’homme une individualité plus développée, une sphère de pensée et d’action plus étendue, un amour plus expansif, une paix plus haute et plus permanente.
This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no means suggests man’s absorption into Deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace.
L’individualité de l’homme n’est pas moins tangible parce qu’elle est spirituelle et parce que sa vie n’est pas à la merci de la matière. La compréhension de son individualité spirituelle rend l’homme plus réel, plus formidable dans la vérité, et le met à même de vaincre le péché, la maladie et la mort.
The individuality of man is no less tangible because it is spiritual and because his life is not at the mercy of matter. The understanding of his spiritual individuality makes man more real, more formidable in truth, and enables him to conquer sin, disease, and death.
Une connaissance de la Science de l’être développe les facultés et les possibilités latentes de l’homme. Elle donne plus d’étendue à l’atmosphère de la pensée, accordant aux mortels l’accès à des domaines plus larges et plus élevés. Elle élève le penseur à son élément natif de pénétration et de perspicacité.
A knowledge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities and possibilities of man. It extends the atmosphere of thought, giving mortals access to broader and higher realms. It raises the thinker into his native air of insight and perspicacity.
Nous ne comprenons la Vie en Science divine que lorsque nous vivons au-dessus du sens corporel et le corrigeons.
Pour avoir un seul Dieu et se prévaloir de la puissance de l’Esprit, il faut aimer Dieu par- dessus tout.
La « chair a des désirs contraires à ceux de l’Esprit ». La chair et l’Esprit ne peuvent agir ensemble, pas plus que le bien ne peut coïncider avec le mal. Il n’est pas sage de vaciller et de s’arrêter à mi-chemin, ni de s’attendre à travailler également avec l’Esprit et la matière, avec la Vérité et l’erreur. Il n’y a qu’un seul chemin — savoir Dieu et Son idée — qui mène à l’être spirituel. C’est au moyen de l’Entendement divin qu’il faut arriver à gouverner le corps scientifiquement. Il est impossible d’obtenir l’empire sur le corps par aucun autre moyen. Sur ce point fondamental, un conservatisme timide est absolument inadmissible. Ce n’est qu’en s’appuyant radicalement sur la Vérité que l’on peut réaliser le pouvoir scientifique qui guérit.
We apprehend Life in divine Science only as we live above corporeal sense and correct it.
To have one God and avail yourself of the power of Spirit, you must love God supremely.
The “flesh lusteth against the Spirit.” The flesh and Spirit can no more unite in action, than good can coincide with evil. It is not wise to take a halting and half-way position or to expect to work equally with Spirit and matter, Truth and error. There is but one way — namely, God and His idea — which leads to spiritual being. The scientific government of the body must be attained through the divine Mind. It is impossible to gain control over the body in any other way. On this fundamental point, timid conservatism is absolutely inadmissible. Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized.
Chacun doit remplir sa mission sans timidité ni dissimulation, car, pour être bien fait, le travail doit être accompli sans égoïsme.
One must fulfil one’s mission without timidity or dissimulation, for to be well done, the work must be done unselfishly.
Le courage moral est « le lion de la tribu de Juda », le roi du royaume mental. Libre et sans crainte, il parcourt la forêt. Paisible, il se couche en rase campagne ou se repose dans « de verts pâturages... près des eaux paisibles ». Dans la transmission figurée de la pensée divine à la pensée humaine, la diligence, la promptitude et la persévérance sont comparées aux
« troupeaux sur les innombrables montagnes »*. Elles portent en elles la ferme résolution et vont de pair avec les desseins les plus nobles.

Moral courage is “the lion of the tribe of Juda,” the king of the mental realm. Free and fearless it roams in the forest. Undisturbed it lies in the open field, or rests in “green pastures, … beside the still waters.” In the figurative transmission from the divine thought to the human, diligence, promptness, and perseverance are likened to “the cattle upon a thousand hills.” They carry the baggage of stern resolve, and keep pace with highest purpose.
On trouve dans le monde trop de courage animal et pas assez de courage moral. Il faut que les chrétiens prennent les armes contre l’erreur dans leur foyer et au-dehors. Ils doivent s’attaquer au péché en eux-mêmes et chez les autres, et continuer cette guerre jusqu’à ce qu’ils aient achevé leur course. S’ils gardent la foi, ils auront la couronne d’allégresse.
There is too much animal courage in society and not sufficient moral courage. Christians must take up arms against error at home and abroad. They must grapple with sin in themselves and in others, and continue this warfare until they have finished their course. If they keep the faith, they will have the crown of rejoicing.
Il faut du courage pour proclamer la vérité ; car plus la Vérité élève la voix, plus l’erreur crie fort, jusqu’à ce que le son inarticulé de sa voix se perde à jamais dans l’oubli.
Le christianisme démontre à nouveau la Vie qui est la Vérité, et la Vérité qui est la Vie, par l’œuvre apostolique qui consiste à chasser l’erreur et à guérir les malades. La terre
n’offre pas de compensation pour les persécutions qui accompagnent un nouveau pas dans le christianisme ; mais la récompense spirituelle des persécutés est assurée par l’élévation de l’existence au-dessus de la discorde mortelle et par le don de l’Amour divin.
It requires courage to utter truth; for the higher Truth lifts her voice, the louder will error scream, until its inarticulate sound is forever silenced in oblivion.
Christianity is again demonstrating the Life that is Truth, and the Truth that is Life, by the apostolic work of casting out error and healing the sick. Earth has no repayment for the persecutions which attend a new step in Christianity; but the spiritual recompense of the persecuted is assured in the elevation of existence above mortal discord and in the gift of divine Love.
Ceux-là sont conséquents qui, veillant et priant, peuvent « courir et ne point se lasser, marcher et ne point se fatiguer », qui parviennent rapidement au bien et s’y maintiennent, ou qui y arrivent lentement et ne cèdent pas au découragement.
Quand nous nous attendons patiemment à Dieu et que nous recherchons la Vérité avec droiture, Il nous indique le chemin.
Individuals are consistent who, watching and praying, can “run, and not be weary; … walk, and not faint,” who gain good rapidly and hold their position, or attain slowly and yield not to discouragement.
When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path.
On peut dès à présent avoir pour intention et pour mobile de vivre selon le bien. Ce point acquis, vous avez débuté comme vous le deviez. Vous avez commencé par la règle fondamentale de la Science Chrétienne, et seule une mauvaise intention pourra entraver vos progrès. Si vous travaillez et priez avec des mobiles sincères, votre Père vous ouvrira le chemin. « Qui vous a arrêtés, pour vous empêcher d’obéir à la vérité ? »
The purpose and motive to live aright can be gained now. This point won, you have started as you should. You have begun at the numeration-table of Christian Science, and nothing but wrong intention can hinder your advancement. Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way. “Who did hinder you, that ye should not obey the truth?”
Nous devons inverser nos faibles tentatives — nos efforts pour trouver la vie et la vérité dans la matière — et nous élever au-dessus du témoignage des sens matériels, au-dessus du mortel jusqu’à l’idée immortelle de Dieu. Ces vues plus claires et plus élevées donnent à l’homme à la ressemblance de Dieu l’inspiration pour atteindre le centre et la circonférence absolus de son être.
Job dit : « Mon oreille avait entendu parler de Toi ; mais maintenant mon œil T’a vu. » Les mortels se feront l’écho de la pensée de Job, quand les prétendus douleurs et plaisirs de la matière cesseront de prédominer. Ils abandonneront alors la fausse évaluation de la vie et du bonheur, de la joie et de la peine, et ils atteindront à la félicité d’aimer sans égoïsme, de travailler avec patience et de vaincre tout ce qui est dissemblable à Dieu.
We must reverse our feeble flutterings — our efforts to find life and truth in matter — and rise above the testimony of the material senses, above the mortal to the immortal idea of God. These clearer, higher views inspire the God-like man to reach the absolute centre and circumference of his being.
Job said: “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee.” Mortals will echo Job’s thought, when the supposed pain and pleasure of matter cease to predominate. They will then drop the false estimate of life and happiness, of joy and sorrow, and attain the bliss of loving unselfishly, working patiently, and conquering all that is unlike God.

Dans la Science, l’Amour divin seul gouverne l’homme ; et un Scientiste Chrétien reflète les douces aménités de l’Amour, en réprouvant le péché, et en manifestant un véritable esprit de fraternité, de charité et de pardon. Les membres de cette Église doivent journellement veiller et prier pour être délivrés de tout mal, pour ne pas prophétiser, juger, condamner, conseiller, influencer ou être influencés d’une manière erronée.
