5. Tu dresses devant moi une table, en face de mes adversaires ; tu oins d'huile ma tête, et ma coupe déborde.
6. Oui, le bonheur et la grâce m'accompagneront tous les jours de ma vie, et j'habiterai dans la maison de l'Éternel jusqu'à la fin de mes jours.
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
La Leçon Sermon
1 Je lève mes yeux vers les montagnes... d'où me viendra le secours ?
2 Le secours me vient de l'Éternel, qui a fait les cieux et la terre.
3 Il ne permettra point que ton pied chancelle ; celui qui te garde ne sommeillera point.
4 Voici, il ne sommeille ni ne dort, celui qui garde Israël.
5 L'Éternel est celui qui te garde, l'Éternel est ton ombre à ta main droite.
6 Pendant le jour le soleil ne te frappera point, ni la lune pendant la nuit.
7 L'Éternel te gardera de tout mal, il gardera ton âme ;
8 L'Éternel gardera ton départ et ton arrivée, dès maintenant et à jamais.
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

25 Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous serez vêtus. La vie n'est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement ?
26 Regardez les oiseaux du ciel : ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent, et ils n'amassent rien dans des greniers ; et votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup plus qu'eux ?
27 Qui de vous, par ses inquiétudes, peut ajouter une coudée à la durée de sa vie ?
28 Et pourquoi vous inquiéter au sujet du vêtement ? Considérez comment croissent les lis des champs : ils ne travaillent ni ne filent ;
29 Cependant je vous dis que Salomon même, dans toute sa gloire, n'a pas été vêtu comme l'un d'eux.
30 Si Dieu revêt ainsi l'herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd'hui et qui demain sera jetée au four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas à plus forte raison, gens de peu de foi ?
31 Ne vous inquiétez donc point, et ne dites pas : Que mangerons-nous ? que boirons-nous ? de quoi serons-nous vêtus ?
32 Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens qui les recherchent. Votre Père céleste sait que vous en avez besoin.
33 Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu ; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus.
25 Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

15 Prenez garde que personne ne rende à autrui le mal pour le mal ; mais poursuivez toujours le bien, soit entre vous, soit envers tous.

2 Je m'en vais par le chemin de toute la terre. Fortifie-toi, et sois un homme !
3 Observe les commandements de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, en marchant dans ses voies, et en gardant ses lois, ses ordonnances, ses jugements et ses préceptes, selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, afin que tu réussisses dans tout ce que tu feras et partout où tu te tourneras,
4 Et afin que l'Éternel accomplisse cette parole qu'il a prononcée sur moi : Si tes fils prennent garde à leur voie, en marchant avec fidélité devant moi, de tout leur cœur, et de toute leur âme, tu ne manqueras jamais d'un successeur sur le trône d'Israël.

2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

22 Les bontés de l'Éternel ne sont pas épuisés, ses compassions ne sont pas à leur terme ;
23 Elles se renouvellent chaque matin. Oh ! que ta fidélité est grande !
24 L'Éternel est mon partage, dit mon âme ; c'est pourquoi je veux espérer en lui.
25 L'Éternel a de la bonté pour qui espère en lui, pour l'âme qui le cherche.
26 Il est bon d'attendre en silence le secours de l'Éternel.
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
10 Nations, écoutez la parole de l'Éternel, et publiez-la dans les îles lointaines ! Dites : Celui qui a dispersé Israël le rassemblera, et il le gardera comme le berger garde son troupeau.
11 Car l'Éternel rachète Jacob, il le délivre de la main d'un plus fort que lui.
12 Ils viendront, et pousseront des cris de joie sur les hauteurs de Sion ; ils accourront vers les biens de l'Éternel, le blé, le moût, l'huile, les brebis et les bœufs ; leur âne sera comme un jardin arrosé, et ils ne seront plus dans la souffrance.
13 Alors les jeunes filles se réjouiront à la danse, les jeunes hommes et les vieillards se réjouiront aussi ; je changerai leur deuil en allégresse, et je les consolerai ; je leur donnerai de la joie après leurs chagrins.
14 Je rassasierai de graisse l'âme des sacrificateurs, et mon peuple se rassasiera de mes biens, dit l'Éternel.
10 Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.
11 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.
Sachant que l’Ame et ses attributs sont pour toujours manifestés par l’homme, le Maître guérit les malades, donna la vue aux aveugles, l’ouïe aux sourds, la marche aux boiteux, mettant ainsi en lumière l’action scientifique de l’Entendement divin sur les entendements et les corps humains, et donnant une meilleure compréhension de l’Ame et du salut.
Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation.
La Science Chrétienne explique toute cause et tout effet comme étant mentaux, non physiques. Elle lève le voile de mystère qui couvre l’Ame et le corps. Elle montre la relation scientifique de l’homme à Dieu, démêle les ambiguïtés enchevêtrées de l’être et libère la pensée emprisonnée. En Science divine, l’univers, y compris l’homme, est spirituel, harmonieux et éternel.
Christian Science explains all cause and effect as mental, not physical. It lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body. It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought. In divine Science, the universe, including man, is spiritual, harmonious, and eternal.
Question. — Que sont le corps et l’Ame ?
Réponse. — L’identité est le reflet de l’Esprit, le reflet sous des formes multiples et variées du Principe vivant, l’Amour. L’Ame est la substance, la Vie et l’intelligence de l’homme ; elle est individualisée, mais non dans la matière. L’Ame ne peut rien réfléchir qui soit inférieur à l’Esprit.
Question. — What are body and Soul?
Answer. — Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love. Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.
La Science Chrétienne, bien comprise, mène à l’harmonie éternelle. Elle met en lumière le seul vrai Dieu vivant et l’homme fait à Sa ressemblance ; tandis que la croyance contraire — que l’homme a son origine dans la matière et qu’il a un commencement et une fin, qu’il est à la fois âme et corps, bon et mauvais, spirituel et matériel — aboutit à la discordance et à la mortalité, à l’erreur que la Vérité devra détruire.
Christian Science, rightly understood, leads to eternal harmony. It brings to light the only living and true God and man as made in His likeness; whereas the opposite belief — that man originates in matter and has beginning and end, that he is both soul and body, both good and evil, both spiritual and material — terminates in discord and mortality, in the error which must be destroyed by Truth.
En observant le lever du soleil, on s’aperçoit que la croyance à la mobilité de la terre et à l’immobilité du soleil est en contradiction avec le témoignage des sens. De même que l’astronomie renverse la perception humaine du mouvement du système solaire, ainsi la Science Chrétienne renverse l’apparente relation entre l’Ame et le corps et rend le corps tributaire de l’Entendement. Il en est ainsi de l’homme, qui n’est que l’humble serviteur de l’Entendement paisible, bien qu’il paraisse en être autrement au sens fini. Mais nous ne comprendrons jamais cela tant que nous admettrons que l’âme est dans le corps ou que l’entendement est dans la matière, et que l’homme est inclus dans l’inintelligence. L’Ame, ou l’Esprit, est Dieu, immuable et éternelle ; et l’homme coexiste avec l’Ame, Dieu, et la reflète, car l’homme est l’image de Dieu.
In viewing the sunrise, one finds that it contradicts the evidence before the senses to believe that the earth is in motion and the sun at rest. As astronomy reverses the human perception of the movement of the solar system, so Christian Science reverses the seeming relation of Soul and body and makes body tributary to Mind. Thus it is with man, who is but the humble servant of the restful Mind, though it seems otherwise to finite sense. But we shall never understand this while we admit that soul is in body or mind in matter, and that man is included in non-intelligence. Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God's image.
Paul dit : « Marchez selon l’Esprit, et vous n’accomplirez pas les désirs de la chair. » Tôt ou tard nous apprendrons que les entraves des facultés finies de l’homme sont forgées par l’illusion qu’il vit dans le corps non dans l’Ame, dans la matière non dans l’Esprit.
Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
Nos théories font, au sujet de l’Ame et du corps, la même méprise que fit Ptolémée au sujet du système solaire. Elles soutiennent que l’âme est dans le corps et que, par conséquent, l’entendement est tributaire de la matière. La science de l’astronomie a détruit la fausse théorie concernant les rapports des corps célestes entre eux, et la Science Chrétienne détruira certainement l’erreur plus grande concernant nos corps terrestres. L’idée vraie et le Principe de l’homme apparaîtront alors. La bévue de Ptolémée ne pouvait affecter l’harmonie de l’être comme le fait l’erreur concernant l’âme et le corps, erreur qui renverse l’ordre de la Science et attribue à la matière le pouvoir et la prérogative de l’Esprit, de sorte que l’homme devient la créature la plus absolument faible et inharmonieuse de tout l’univers.
Our theories make the same mistake regarding Soul and body that Ptolemy made regarding the solar system. They insist that soul is in body and mind therefore tributary to matter. Astronomical science has destroyed the false theory as to the relations of the celestial bodies, and Christian Science will surely destroy the greater error as to our terrestrial bodies. The true idea and Principle of man will then appear. The Ptolemaic blunder could not affect the harmony of being as does the error relating to soul and body, which reverses the order of Science and assigns to matter the power and prerogative of Spirit, so that man becomes the most absolutely weak and inharmonious creature in the universe.
La croyance due à l’éducation et selon laquelle l’Ame est dans le corps, fait que les mortels considèrent la mort comme une amie, comme le marchepied permettant de passer de la mortalité a l’immortalité et à la félicité. La Bible appelle la mort une ennemie, et Jésus vainquit la mort et le sépulcre au lieu de s’y soumettre. Il était « le chemin ». Donc, la mort n’était pas pour lui le seuil qu’il devait franchir pour entrer dans la gloire vivante.
The educated belief that Soul is in the body causes mortals to regard death as a friend, as a stepping-stone out of mortality into immortality and bliss. The Bible calls death an enemy, and Jesus overcame death and the grave instead of yielding to them. He was "the way." To him, therefore, death was not the threshold over which he must pass into living glory.
Par suite de la fausse idée que l’on se fait de l’âme comme résidant dans les sens et de l’entendement comme résidant dans la matière, la croyance s’égare jusqu’à tomber dans un sens de perte momentanée ou absence de l’âme, la vérité spirituelle. Cet état d’erreur est le rêve mortel de la vie et de la substance paraissant exister dans la matière, et il est diamétralement opposé à la réalité immortelle de l’être. Tant que nous croirons que l’âme peut pécher ou que l’Ame immortelle est dans un corps mortel, nous ne pourrons jamais comprendre la Science de l’être. Quand l’humanité comprendra vraiment cette Science, celle-ci deviendra pour l’homme la loi de la Vie, voire la loi supérieure de l’Ame, qui triomphe du sens matériel par l’harmonie et l’immortalité.
Through false estimates of soul as dwelling in sense and of mind as dwelling in matter, belief strays into a sense of temporary loss or absence of soul, spiritual truth. This state of error is the mortal dream of life and substance as existent in matter, and is directly opposite to the immortal reality of being. So long as we believe that soul can sin or that immortal Soul is in mortal body, we can never understand the Science of being. When humanity does understand this Science, it will become the law of Life to man, — even the higher law of Soul, which prevails over material sense through harmony and immortality.
L’homme, bien compris, au lieu de posséder un corps matériel sensible, a un corps insensible ; et Dieu, l’Ame de l’homme et de toute existence, étant perpétuel dans l’individualité, l’harmonie et l’immortalité qui Lui sont propres, communique ces qualités à l’homme et les perpétue en lui par l’Entendement, non par la matière. La seule excuse que nous ayons pour nourrir des opinions humaines et rejeter la Science de l’être est notre ignorance mortelle de l’Esprit — ignorance qui ne cède qu’à la compréhension de la Science divine, compréhension par laquelle nous avons accès au royaume de la Vérité sur la terre et apprenons que l’Esprit est infini et suprême. L’Esprit et la matière ne se confondent pas plus que la lumière et les ténèbres. Lorsque l’un apparaît, l’autre disparaît.
Rightly understood, instead of possessing a sentient material form, man has a sensationless body; and God, the Soul of man and of all existence, being perpetual in His own individuality, harmony, and immortality, imparts and perpetuates these qualities in man, — through Mind, not matter. The only excuse for entertaining human opinions and rejecting the Science of being is our mortal ignorance of Spirit, — ignorance which yields only to the understanding of divine Science, the understanding by which we enter into the kingdom of Truth on earth and learn that Spirit is infinite and supreme. Spirit and matter no more commingle than light and darkness. When one appears, the other disappears.
La Science révèle l’Esprit, l’Ame, comme n’étant pas dans le corps et Dieu comme n’étant pas dans l’homme, mais comme reflété par l’homme. Le plus grand ne peut être dans le moindre. La croyance que le plus grand peut être dans le moindre est une erreur qui produit le mal. Un point capital de la Science de l’Ame est que le Principe n’est pas dans son idée. L’Esprit, l’Ame, n’est pas renfermé dans l’homme et n’est jamais dans la matière.
Science reveals Spirit, Soul, as not in the body, and God as not in man but as reflected by man. The greater cannot be in the lesser. The belief that the greater can be in the lesser is an error that works ill. This is a leading point in the Science of Soul, that Principle is not in its idea. Spirit, Soul, is not confined in man, and is never in matter.
L’Ame et l’Esprit étant un, Dieu et l’Ame sont un, et cet « un » n’est jamais inclus dans un entendement limité ou dans un corps limité. L’Esprit est éternel, divin. … Ce n’est qu’en perdant le faux sens de l’Ame que nous pouvons atteindre à la révélation éternelle de la Vie en tant qu’immortalité mise en lumière.
Soul and Spirit being one, God and Soul are one, and this one never included in a limited mind or a limited body. Spirit is eternal, divine. … Only by losing the false sense of Soul can we gain the eternal unfolding of Life as immortality brought to light.
L’homme est l’expression de l’Ame.
Man is the expression of Soul.

Dans la Science, l’Amour divin seul gouverne l’homme ; et un Scientiste Chrétien reflète les douces aménités de l’Amour, en réprouvant le péché, et en manifestant un véritable esprit de fraternité, de charité et de pardon. Les membres de cette Église doivent journellement veiller et prier pour être délivrés de tout mal, pour ne pas prophétiser, juger, condamner, conseiller, influencer ou être influencés d’une manière erronée.
